Consultation activities
Industry collaboration
The development of CSIP-AUS in Australia is a collaborative effort from key stakeholders across the Australian energy sector and supply chain, including government agencies and peak bodies, distribution networks, retailers, equipment manufacturers and aggregators. The key working group - the DER Integration API Technical Working Group - boasts over 100 members, including all Australian DNSPs, all major inverter manufacturers and a wide variety of technology and software providers.
Interested parties are encouraged to engage and participate in the ongoing development of CSIP-AUS by participating in public consultations or considering joining the DER Intergration API Technical Working Group. Further deals of this group can be found at About CSIP-AUS.
This page provides access to draft documents and systems currently under development and seeking public feedback. Your participation helps shape the standard to meet evolving technological, stakeholder and policy needs.
Client test harness version 1.0
The client test harness provides an automated, open-source self-service method for clients to evaluate their CSIP-AUS compliance. The definitions for each test case have been encoded using a human readable format that is described here. The test runner is available here. Contributions and feedback from DERIAPITWG members are encouraged.
Utility server version 1.0
The utility server (envoy) is an open-source CSIP-AUS utility server implementation. It is designed to be a fully-featured utility server, compliant with all CSIP-AUS utility server test cases. This server is actively maintained. Contributions and feedback from DERIAPITWG members are encouraged. The server implementation can be found here.
Industry event
CSIP-AUS Connect 2025: Building Australia's interoperable energy future
The ISC, in collaboration with ARENA, is holding an industry event in October 2025 that seeks to build collaboration and advance Australia's energy interoperability efforts through a two-day knowledge sharing conference and the launch of a new national testing and certification service for CSIP-AUS.
The event will bring together key stakeholders to learn from one another and collectively explore the benefits and challenges associated with nationally consistent testing and certification within Australia's energy landscape, as well as broader DER integration issues.
Thursday, 2 October: Conference Day One
Featuring presentations from industry experts covering the future of CSIP-AUS, lessons learned, governance and cyber security issues, behind-the-meter and interoperability, and a number of industry case studies.
The day will conclude with an optional informal networking session.
Friday, 3 October: Conference Day Two
Interactive sessions with facilitated workshop-style discussions on CSIP-AUS versions and pain points, building alignment amongst DNSPs, consumer-side impacts, cyber security, regulations and standards, the installer perspective, cyber security, API versus standards and more.
A full agenda will be posted soon.
Monday, 29 September - Wednesday 1 October: Testing and certification service launch
A new CSIP-AUS national testing and certification service specifically tailored to assist Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) navigate compliance and interoperability testing issues.
"Drop-In" sessions with key ANU staff available for consultation in-person in the ANU Centre for Energy Systems DERlab or online on Monday, 29 and Tuesday, 30 September.
OEM support day on Wednesday, 1 October, including presentations and interactive sessions.

Solar OEM Working Group - 2025-2026
Collaborative working group to support solar OEM and aggregators transition
What
The Interoperability Steering Committee (ISC) and Energy Networks Australia (ENA) is running a collaborative engagement process to consult with and support solar industry OEMs and aggregators to:
transition to the new version of CSIP-AUS (V1.2), as set out in TS5573:2025 and published by Standards Australia on 27 June,
transition to the new national CSIP-AUS testing and certification service to be provided by the Australian National University (ANU) in late 2025, and
prepare for the introduction of emergency backstop requirements in NSW and ACT in mid-2026.
Why
The transition to a new national testing and certification process for CSIP-AUS clients and servers and the introduction of a CSIP-AUS emergency backstop mechanism in NSW and ACT are significant changes that will impact on solar and battery OEMs and aggregators in the next 12 months.
The ISC and ENA are supporting OEMs and aggregators through these transitions through a collaborative working group for industry experts to engage with the ANU team and the NSW and ACT DNSPs, receive regular updates and provide industry input to the design of these new processes, to help ensure a smooth transition for industry.
How
A regular online working group open to all solar inverter OEMs and aggregators facilitated by the ISC and ENA. The working group will be time-bound (from July 2025 – June 2026) to address the above near-term priorities.
Who
Open to all solar inverter OEMs and aggregators involved in CSIP-AUS deployment in Australia, however spaces are limited.
When
Monthly online meetings on the last Thursday of each month between July 2025 and June 2026, commencing Thursday, 31 July 2025. Frequency may be adjusted by agreement depending on the volume and urgency of items for discussion.
How to get involved
If your business would like to nominate a representative to the working group, please contact csipaus@csipaus.org to express your interest.
